Your script services are invaluable. I thought I knew my script (its
characters, plot, etc.) inside out. But your insights into key
points and relationships took me to a whole other level of what the
story could become.
You were right in wanting more local color and dialect for a
couple of key characters -- and in making the locale a "character"
in and of itself. With your suggestions, I can almost feel the
setting breathe.
Although you liked the basic structure of the script, you
recognized how it could be strengthened. With relatively few
corrections, I have made the story tighter and more focused. And
with the alternative ending you thought of, the payoff is clearer --
which allows the stakes to escalate along with the mystery's plot.
I was surprised at how quickly you picked out the story's
theme – even though it was slightly different than what I had been
using. Actually, I think yours works better. My rewrite will
incorporate the changes you mentioned.
All in all, you reinforced and complimented me on what I had
done well, suggested what could be tweaked and how to do it, and
then helped me clarify both the theme and protagonist's character
arc.
WOW! Your script service rates five stars!
Sincerely,
K. Lingo, “Back Spin”
Has it really been two years you've been reading for The Matthau
Company? A couple hundred scripts? You're right, it's time I told
you what I think of your coverage. It's reliable, honest,
insightful, and unerring. Your skill and humor turn your reports
into a fun read. You give good synopsis, and get to the heart of the
story in your analysis. Most importantly, when you tell me to read a
script, I know I'm not wasting my time. When you tell me to pass on
it, I know I'm not missing anything. I look forward to seeing any
script you think is right for us.

I’m writing because I had to thank you for healing my ailing script.
I had nearly lost hope. But you doctored it like an M.D. (Motivating
Dynamo). You cured script ailments from format to character arcs to
plot and subplot. You prescribed the right dose of tension to revive
dead scenes, and miraculous medicines for a weak plot and lackluster
characters. You are truly the Doctor Spock of scripts -- with a
bloodhound's instinct for solid story line, and a ready remedy for
every story stumble.
You keep me from getting too serious, and from losing
perspective. Yet, your sage advice gives me the kind of endurance I
need to be glued to the script -- even when I don't think I can bear
to scribble another line of dialogue. And when I've come to that
dead end -- that blank page with no scenes in sight – you take the
script's pulse, then point me in the right direction.
Your understanding of the principles of darn good
storytelling is encyclopedic. Your insight into the writer’s psyche
is comforting. Your enthusiasm to see me succeed is inspiring.
You helped me mine the elements of my story – to deliver a
screen diamond.
Thank you!

I deeply appreciate your script coaching
talent these past three years. No matter how myopic I become about
my story, I can count on you to be both cheerleader and incisive
editor.
Producers and agents -- who are inundated with scripts -- demand the
highest quality on first presentation. Your coaching reassures me
that my screenplays will be considered.
Flick Scripts Consulting is this writer’s most valuable tool.

Even the best screenwriters need fresh, objective eyes to read their
scripts. You're my first call.
It’s not just because I taught you everything you know. It’s
also because I’ve always said, “Choose your first reader carefully.
That’s when you’re most vulnerable. Choose someone whose insight you
can trust to be necessary, true … and kind.”
You prove that it’s good advice. The script you analyzed for me was
produced, and will make its premiere at the “Los Angeles Latino
International Film Festival” at the Egyptian Theater this month. I
look forward to seeing you there.

As an independent filmmaker, I depend on your
insights before I begin shooting anything I write. It has to pass
your scrutiny first. You tell me how it is without pulling any
punches. Your critiques are right on target, and always make my
story better.
You’re a teacher, a sounding board, an inspiration – and my mentor.
When you tell me something doesn’t work, you also tell me why and
how to fix it – and you tell me in a way that makes me jump at the
chance to revise. If you tell me you like something – I know it’s
golden! I trust you 100%. You’ve made me a better writer than I ever
thought I would be. I don’t know what I would do without you. You’re
a master.
Sincerely,

Dear Julie,
Thanks so much for your advice on our thriller. You have an
eye for structure and for character, and your language sense is
exceptional. Your ideas came at a time when we were out of our own
from having reread our script so much, and they helped us get it in
shape for our agent. You truly have a gift.
